Review : Get from Koh Tao to Koh Samui by Lomprayah

During our recent island-hopping trip in Thailand, we traveled from Koh Tao to Koh Samui using the Lomprayah high-speed catamaran, and it was a great experience overall!

We booked our tickets online a few days in advance, which was super convenient. On the day of travel, we arrived at Mae Haad Pier in Koh Tao, where Lomprayah has a well-organized check-in process. The staff were friendly and spoke basic English, which made things easy for international tourists like us.

Check In Point:
Check in a ticket at Lomprayah’s counter at Mae haad pier Koh tao . Need to check in 1 hour before departure.

For a big luggage, staff will take it in front of the ferry. It’s safe. However, I recommend to keep all valuable items with them or in their hand luggage.

Departure : From Mae Haad to Koh Samui

The ferry departed on time and the journey took around 1 hour and 45 minutes. The catamaran was clean, air-conditioned, and had comfortable seating both inside and on the roof top for those who wanted sea views or photos.

Let’s go to Koh Samui

The sea was a bit choppy in the beginning, but the ride was smooth overall. If you’re prone to seasickness, we recommend taking motion sickness tablets before boarding. The views of the ocean and nearby islands were stunning—definitely a highlight of the trip!

Arrival : to Koh Samui

Staff will unload all luggage from the ferry and place it outside. You can collect your bag there, but please double-check to make sure it’s yours.

We arrived at Maenam Pier in Koh Samui, and from there, it was easy to get a taxi to our hotel. Lomprayah also offers transfer services, but we chose to arrange our own.

Overall, we highly recommend Lomprayah for travelers looking for a fast, safe, and scenic way to get from Koh Tao to Koh Samui. It’s worth the extra cost compared to slower ferries. Just remember to book early during high season, as seats sell out quickly!
